Stay away from Gearbox, Diff and Propshaft Centre in Polokwane

On Monday the 04th March 2019 I took my Jeep Grand Cherokee to Gearbox, Diff and Propshaft Centre in Polokwane to have it checked for the noise coming from the Diff. A gentleman called Johan assisted me. We agreed that they will check the car and give me a quote. They never called or said anything for the whole week. I went back to them on Tuesday 12th March to check what was happening. Johan showed me a damaged bearing that needed to be replaced. He told me that they have placed an order for a new bearing. He promised to text me the quotation later. I didn't receive any quote from them. On Wednesday the 13th March Johan called me and asked me to come to the workshop. When I arrived, he asked me to get inside the Jeep. He drove out of the workshop and asked me if I could still hear the noise. The was no noise from the Diff. Johan told me that they had bought a genuine brand new diff from Jeep dealership. When we got back to the workshop he gave me an invoice amounting to R25000. He emphasised that the new diff cost them R17000 from Jeep. I couldn't pay them as the amount was just too high. I went to the Jeep dealership and discovered from Sydney the Jeep agent that Johan had just made a telephonic enquiry on the price of a new diff about 30minutes before he called me. I went back to the workshop and asked Johan to give me a copy of the invoice. He printed a new invoice with a total amount of R19000, saying that they gave me a discount. I asked him for a copy of the invoice from Jeep as proof that they indeed had bought a new diff from Jeep and he couldn't produce anything. I then told him about my conversation with Sydney at Jeep...and told him that they were trying to rob me. When I indicated that I would be taking them to court , he called his boss and they reduced the amount to R5130. I paid them the R5130 and took my car. They were prepared to rip me off R20000 for nothing. What a bad and ********* workshop in Polokwane. Please stay away from them.
