Refusal to refund amount outstanding

I have bought couples of gautrain cards few years back and have loaded money in all of them. Now that I need to use it again, with money in it, the depot refused to let me use it and told me to buy another card. They claimed that the card expire in 3 years, however, nothing on the card indicate that. Worse of all, why should it be expired and consumer forced to buy a new card when it is not even a credit card. I want my money to be transferred to another gautrain card, that is the least thing that the company should do and not ***** the money and make it theirs.
