No Communication from Gautrain Management
Hello Peter,
It is Saturday morning. I am on my way from Pretoria to Cape Town. I am scheduled to catch a plane from ORTambo. I used my Gautrain App On Friday evening to plan my trip. I was in-time to catch the relevant Train from Hatfield Station. On arrival at the station I was pointed to the Gautrain bus. The bus would take us to Centurion station and we could take the train from there. I waited 40 mins for the bus to leave. I checked with the staff that the train will then operate normally from Centurion. On arrival at Centurion the train did not arrive on time. I phoned the Gautrain Helpline and only the normal IVR options were available. No notification of any disruptions. When I checked with a Gautrain Supervisor he explained that even if the train arrives, it will not operate as normal. He advised that I should rather make other arrangements. This was 1hr 15 mins after I arrived at Hatfield Station and 25hrs after I planned my trip via the Gautrain App. My question to Gautrain Management is: Don’t you have ANY way to communicate to your customers or your staff if something goes wrong? Not through the App, not by SMS, not by announcements on the station?
