justifies "*****ing" cash from unused cards!

I have many Gautrain cards, all with balances but often forgoten at home when I take the train. One of them has a balance of R300 but is "Disabled" although showing validity to 31/12/2017. After being chased all around from station to head office to customer service, eventually I have been told no refund on a disabled card. I still regularly use Gautrain and just want to use money paid. Surely it is ******* to just refuse to refund or re-validate. I can only compare this shameful practice to my experience with Oyster in London. At the end of your journey, place your card in the machine and get a full refund for any unused amount.

Gautrains poor response:

An individual card will also expire if it has not been used at all for a three year period. In that event, any unused value on the expired card is transferred to the Gauteng Provincial Government. This is fully compliant with the CPA regulations and was verified so by the Commissioner several years ago.

Kindly note that we do not refund disabled/ expired gold cards.
