Gautrain employees selectively enforce rules

This is a complaint I have logged with the Gautrain people. I don't have much confidence in their commitment to addressing complaints so I am elisting your help to get it done.

I posted a complaint on your facebook page and the feedback I received was "Good day Tumelo
Smoking is not permitted within a 10 meter distance from any Gautrain station building, in underground parking, on trains or on buses. This rule is enforced and displayed on our station rules." On this complaint I included a picture of this person who was standing outside the bus door smoking while waiting for the bus to leave the station. Your facebook admin said to me that "Good day Tumelo.

From the image and description provided, no rules have been violated. Should you at any time note an infringement of rules, please report this to any of our staff members." and so I wonder if this is just to placate me telling me to log a complaint like this.

Here is what I have observed from the time I started using the Gautrain, which has been for years now. I am fed up with having to fight for my life whenever I have to use this service.

The response from your page indicated, as quoted above that smoking is not permitted anywhere on the Gautrain stations. This is a surprise to me because everyday, without fail the commuters at the Rhodesfield station where I board the train are always smoking right outside the door to the building and even where the bus waits for commuters getting off the train. Today, I was sitting in the bus, at the Midrand station, that is going to Randjespark and there was a guy standing right outside the bus door and smoking. No one told this person that they are not permitted to smoke there. Another commuter, this time a lady came and asked the bus driver how long before the bus leave because she wants to smoke before coming in. After getting her response she proceeded to smoke, even walking closer to the bus door so we can all benefit from the second hand smoke from her cigarette. It is obvious that smokers enjoy preferential treatment from the Gautrain services and have carte blanche to make the rest of us smoke because we need to use the service that is evidently exclusive to them. So it serves the rest of us right to die of lung cancer from secondary smoking because we have the nerve to use services they have VIP treatment for.
