Garmin vivoactive: defective battery fails and costs the earth to replace

As a Garmin device ***** up till recently (3 in family currently), I enjoyed my smar****ch (Vivoactive 4), which I have "babied" throughout its life, even replacing screen protectors every few months. It started experiencing battery issues this year and recently failed completely. When sent to Garmin recently (Order 123273), they returned a report showing "Fault Description : Battery failure/ defective" and "Technical Report: batery failure (sic)". This should be replaced by the manufacturer. Instead, they want to charge R2 640 for a new battery! Thoroughly unimpressed. Can't imagine a similar product from Cupertino doing so. Rather look elsewhere, Folks
