GARMIN SMART SCALE PRODUCT DISASTER

I bought a Garmin smart scale via takealot on 22 September 2017. The scale worked for 4 months and then showed an error message which rendered it unusable. Resetting the scale or turning it off and on again, nothing worked. So emailed Garmin, who told me they are aware of the problem and working on it but there is currently no solution. I emailed them again a month later and said I want to return the scale but they said that that won't help either. I've now had the world's most expensive paperweight for months with Garmin saying "sorry we are not sorry". The worst part is that they are still selling these scales knowing that they have a major software issue that renders them completely useless. And seeing how they handled (or rather failed utterly) to assist me in anyway after months I can't see how anyone can buy any garmin product with any peace of mind at all.
