Garmin rips off the customer
I am absolutely disgusted in the service received from Garmin. I own several Garmin products because of a very good reputation they used to have. Until today when I took my GPS in with a communication problem that prevents me from updating the software and maps. Not even 30min after I booked it in at Garmin Rosebank, did I receive an email stating it's unrepairable but they can offer me a replacement at a discounted price. Their discounted price R125 cheaper than Makro and 2.5 times more expensive than the device I handed in. My device has got no physical damage and is doing all it's normal functions perfect, just I can not update the Lifetime free map update. Garmin should have a disclaimer stating they do no repairs on any devices only replacement at a huge cost to the customer. I am sitting with an older gps, 100% working order but map update is costing more than a new device. So I bought this one with free lifetime map update but can not do any update die to a communication error. Garmin devices has got a shelf life with no support from Garmin.
