Garmin Fenix 5- burned by charging port

I recently purchased a Garmin Fenix 5 about 3 months ago in preparation for the Addo 76km trail, which I took part in this past weekend. It had seemed as though my battery (fully charged) was draining faster than usual and my watch went off after 8hours, instead of the 25 hours navigation time as claimed.

After I had finished and taken off my watch, I discovered that it had discharged through the charge port into my wrist, leaving circular burn wounds. Underneath the watch my wrist was covered with metallic liquid and the burn was painful and has continued to swell to the next morning.

I sent an email to Garmin SA and their international outlet via email but did not hear back from them until three days later when I phoned their customer support. The operator said that this had previously happened when people slept with their Garmin and woke up with these burn wounds.

However there are no warning signs or statements anywhere on the packaging or user manual stating that the risks with using their device.

They have offered to replace, not refund the product but have not heard back from them after my reply email.

I would hopefully be able to get a refund seeing as though I’ve lost faith in Garmin’s product. And would like to put this up for people looking into buying a Garmin watch to make an informed decision.
