Garden Route Explorers tour operator

Please be aware of this tour operator and hiking guide in the Mosselbay area. The owner, Stoney Steenbergen, took 20 unexperienced hikers to the Fish River Canyon in Namibia during August 2023 at a cost of R5900.00 per hiker. The night before the descent he informed us that we had to do the hike without a guide, whilst he advertised the hike to be led by an experienced guide. The hike was life threatening due to the water shortage in the canyon and we had a horrid experience. He already have 3 groups lined up for the 2024 season and he is definitely not capable of guiding them because of his age and fitness levels. He was rude and is a ****mer as he has done the same to another group in the Mosselbay area, after also claiming that he had hurt himself. He takes no responsibility for his actions, or lack thereoff. While we were trying to survive in the canyon he had a paid holiday at Ais Ais. Please also read reviews on his web page
