Wrong item received from repair.
Bought a Bennett Read 1.7L glass electric kettle at Game Festival mall Feb last year for my mom (who is in the rurals) and she only got to use it for 16 weeks in total. Brought it back with me when I came back from Festive holidays in Jan as it was still under quaranty. Took it in for repair at the very same store and it was booked for repair. Was called to collect it in Feb and I took it back home when I go for Easter holidays (wrapped as it was from the repair). Got home around past 9pm and the old lady was excited to have her long waited to be fixed kettle back. She asked it be unwrapped and the unwrapping slowly swallowed her smile and completely ruined the night to think she's gonna go long more time without boiling water in 3 min because! the small appliance was a total MESS! 3 noticeable things even a blind could feel. The cord is burned, the frame is dented and worse thing the brand is gone( it's a no-name something)!. My mom just screamed " this is not my kettle!". The embarrassment in me and regret I should have opened it after collection when still in GP 😞. Well, I asked we test and check if they really did this horrible thing of giving us something in that state. Put the water in, blue light, then the sound and the water is boiling. Was she impressed?, not at all but just remained quiet. Then I tried to convinced her she keeps the kettle or be ready to wait another long time. The desperate old lady with the thought of having to prepare open fire each time to have her tea, she agreed and that sadness on her face was deep and we called it a night. The next day, Good Friday, we woke up she as her daughter-in-law for her morning tea. She switched on the kettle, blue light and left the kitchen to return after knowing the water is obviously ready to make tea and ' Wala!', the blue light still on and the kettle is cold no steam if boiled water. She just came straight to me and said it's bad. Broke the news to her and she just said I told you that kettle is mine, take it back and just bring my money and I'll send someone to go buy the normal one at Shoprite. I immediately called the store and they didn't not answer and I thought could be because of holiday but I know they're opened. She was deeply hurt and I just stood there and said no more. Returned with it to GP, went to the store to address the matter and the Tevo guy told me supervisor is not working in weekends and I should come back on Monday. I went there Thursday and the guy was off and didn't inform anyone about this matter. I then asked they call him and that's when he told me it's passed the quaranty and they can't help no more. So I just told him can't take it back home to her because her seeing it will just keep the wound open and best they have it back, keep it as reminder that it didn't do any good to someone out there. Let me add someone at the store even told me many have returned it and I believed her because when I went to collect at Feb there were many at the entrance on special and it's always on their weekly specials. Pity they could not see my reasons.
