Will Not shop at Game stores ever again!!!

Good day,

On the 21 May 2026 I went to the Game store 396 West Street, Durban KZN in my mind to purchase a Skyworth Smart TV as previous from the other day I knew which TV I was purchasing.

Everything went well at first when I arrived at the store. The very same Indian lady who works at the TV department dealt with me in a very professional way. I had to pay for the TV licence first in order to purchase the Smart TV I wanted. I was assisted by a cashier by the name of Phindile Ngcobo, 35477 at the time of the purchase. My Mom and my brother accompanied me at the time as we were very excited to purchase the Smart TV. Upon liaising with me the Indian lady said to me that the TV is very sensitive and that one bump can cause it to be damaged, my Mom was also a witness hearing this. She did tell me about the warranty of the TV but not in detail.

We left in a good manner that day and I got home to fully set up the smart TV using my phone's data.

One the 3rd May 2026 this past Sunday my TV experienced an unfortunate accident and it fell to the floor. I was so devastated and I just wished it hadn't happened as I was enjoying watching channels like Netflix, Prime etc. I immediately when to look for the Skyworth Manuel and wanted to see what the TV company covers as I would call them the Monday morning of the 4th May 2026. Of the Monday I did make a call to Skyworth and they told me damages to the screen were not covered as it would be out of warranty.

My question is why didn't the Indian lady not ask me or advise me of insurances that over Smart TV's incase of something happening like this in the future as I would have surely covered the TV. She offered me all the other stuff like a surge protector plug etc. but not advice of insurance even if it wasn't through Game.

I now have to pay from a quote from Skyworth for the screen repair of R2108 plus courier fees to and back when the TV repaired.

I really feel this is an unfair act and that Game should be held accountable for this bill and not me as a newly owner of a Smart TV not less than 3 month in ownership.

I don't think I would ever purchase any appliances etc. from any Game store again and would seek better customer advise from Makro, HiFi corporation etc. This is totally unexpected and so not real as I have to daily look up where my TV was placed and have a shrinking feeling all the time that I can't watch TV again. I would not recommend Game to any of my family or friends or colleagues at work!!!!!!!!

Regards,

Marvyn
