What happened to “customer service”

I bought a air bed(Intex)on the 30th of September at Game Gateway Mall. Due to work I only got time today to exchange it.

I had really bad back ache from the lines on the bed hence I needed to get it exchanged.

I was told by the manager that they will not take it back cos they won’t be able to sell it to any customer since it has been opened.

I mean how else was I to know that I’m going to get up with my back feeling like I was rolling on speed humps?
