We are not safe shopping at Game Stores...

On Thursday, the 29th of March, I became a victim of theft in one of our leading retailer stores- Game in Greenacres to be exact. The stores surveillance footage shows a man reaching into the small pocket of my 5 month old son's pram and then swiftly snatch my cell phone as I turned my back for a few seconds. He took my cell phone from this very discreet pocket and left the store 3 minutes later, during which time I realized my phone is missing. I quickly proceeded to the till point to pay hoping I'd left my phone in the car. I rushed out to my car to the terrible realization that my phone is gone. I rushed back into the store and asked the security if they could review the footage. Clear as day, a middle aged male reached into the small pocket of my child's pram and snatched my cell phone. The ***** and an accomplice of a similar age quickly disappeared out of the store. I was upset, disappointed... so angered at this unbelievable event. The manager on duty at Game at the time of the incident came to the control room shortly after I reviewed the footage with the security guard on duty and an employee controlling the stores cameras. He looked at the footage, shook his head and walked away- barely said two words to me. I was too upset to care about this minor detail at the time. I left the store and went to 2 levels up to my network service provider block my handset. I was at Game reviewing the footage for about an hour, left the store and then spent about another 20 minutes at my network service provider trying to block my handset. I took the elevator down to the ground level and then to my complete and utter disbelief, the same two men entered the store again. They didn’t see me but I saw them and I quickly followed into the store and alerted the manager and security. The Manager appeared surprised and then almost as if he didn’t know how to respond to the unfolding situation. The security guard reacted in a similar manner and appeared intimidated. The manager seemingly shrugged the situation off onto the security guard and faded into the background as he became an onlooker. The security guard waited for the men to approach the exit. I anticipated the ******* would run upon confrontation and asked the manager of the store if he could close the doors to the store for just a few minutes in an effort to apprehend the ******* and call the police or centre security guards because clearly they were a threat to his store and his clients to which the Manager plainly and coldly rep**** "I can’t do that". The men approached the exit where a single female security guard confronted them and asked them to follow her to the control room as she wanted to discuss something with them. The man who reached into my child's pram and stole my cell phone quickly became upset and hostile and practically “walked his way through” the security guard swearing at her to which she rep**** in a similar vulgar manner and that was the end of it. They left the store and got away. I turned back to the Manager expecting some sort of regret or solace... only to see him fading away into the distance. I was left in the doorway of Game, alone. A month has passed since the incident. The investigating officer has now contacted me and confirmed they are unable to trace or retrieve my hand set and have exhausted all leads. The pain of losing all the photos and videos of my son’s life leading up to that visit to Game stores (including his actual birth) is still very real, however- I’m more upset at the mere thought of what would this manager/store have done if the ******* had grabbed my son and ran…!? I still feel anxiety at the mere mention of the name “Game Stores”. In my experience we are not safe shopping at Game! Accordingly, I want to lodge a formal complaint against Game Greenacres and/or the manager, “Vijay Singh”. How could you and/or your store let this situation unravel the way it did when you had a second chance to “at least” apprehend the offenders in an effort to prevent it from happening to anyone else… but you rather let them walk out the door?!
