Under Warrenty but Refuse to Repair

My tablet a Acer Iconia A1, was bought in March 2014 and we took a extended warranty on it aswell. We took it in with the warranty and explained the fault with it which was the speaker is fuzzy, its on off button was not working nicely and when we did, get it on it gave a error code. They eventually after weeks of waiting contacted me and told me that because we forcibly broke the speaker that is why it is giving the error code and they refused to repair it unless we paid for it, I don't know how a person could forcibly break a speaker which would cause all the problems. The tablet is R3000 and they wanted over the R2000 to repair it.
