The customer is always right? Not at Game.

I was researching wall-mounted panel heaters online and I popped into Game Kenilworth to view in-store.

The assistance managed to find one item of stock, which had been opened, so I asked for a discount. The manager discounted the item by R50 from R899 to R849.

Firstly, don't retailers need to disclose if an item has been returned? There were clear marks that it had been handled previously - a small dent on one corner and dirty fingerprints.

Secondly, the item felt expensive to me at the time, and when I got home I realised that I had seen the same item advertised at Builders Warehouse for R200 less - that's a big difference. The item is currently on sale, marked down from R749 to R699.

I contacted *** as instructed on the Price Beat Promise page.

The page states the following regarding promotional items (not matched):

"deep discounted promotions that are short-term such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals online pre-orders"

Despite no other reference to sale items, the Game service agent Andisiwe Nkinana, states that "I am sorry but we do not price beat on promotional items."

There is absolutely no basis for that claim, and the agent merely refuses.

Nevermind that even WITHOUT the sale, the item is STILL more expensive at Game!
