Terrible service: I was denied support because I had misplaced my receipt
In May 2023, I purchased a 50-inch smart TV from Game at South Gate Mall. In September 2025, the TV suddenly stopped working, despite never having fallen and with no damage to the screen.
When I returned to the store for assistance, I was denied support because I had misplaced my receipt—even though I still had the original box with barcodes and serial numbers. I am now expected to pay for repairs on a product that should still be under warranty.
It is unacceptable that a major retailer like Game cannot track or verify sales through their own systems, particularly for high-value items like televisions. This experience has been extremely disappointing and demonstrates poor customer service. I will not purchase a TV or any appliance from Game again.
Takealot is 100 times better with excellent policies.
That being said, Game can do more in confirming its inventory and giving the manufacturer confirmation that indeed the tv was purchased from its stores.
To simply say customer you dnt have a receipt sorry we cant assist after I have spent R7000 at you store. Its simply unacceptable and careless.

I spent over 30 minutes at Game South Gate, where they attempted to locate my purchase using my card number but were unable to find any record. They did mention that many of the same TVs were sold in 2023, but still couldn’t link any transaction to my details.
This ongoing back and forth is unproductive and frustrating. I will resolve the issue myself, even though the TV failed while still under warranty.
