samsung tvs are not smart
I bought a Samsung Smart TV (model N5300) from Game in March 2020 All I wanted was a BASIC TV that works and will work in the future In 2020 everybody is/was aware the analogue TV signal was about to be switched off in the near future. So with this in mind I bought a new TV in 2020.I specifically asked if this TV would be able to receive the digital signal, when analogue signal was switched off, and I was assure it would work and I would not have any problems receiving digital TV .(Because this is a smart TV) Now in 2021 the analogue switch off is happening. The manager of Game Beacon Bay has just told I have to buy a set top box or a decoder (plus a satellite dish) in order to receive digital TV signal because that is “the way the world is moving “ and I would need internet access to watch SABC channels in future if I did not buy a digital decoder. I was lead to believe that all smart TV‘s had built in digital decoders built in How can Game/Samsung sell a TV that will stop working once analogue signal is switched off (unless additional equipment is bought?) All I required was a basic TV that would receive SABC channels,( I don’t want anything fancy. ) The only reason why I bought this Samsung Smart TV in 2020 is because I/everybody knew analogue TV signal was about to be switched off
