Ryobi and Gamestores
Purchased a Ryobi brush cutter from Game around October last year. The machine was purchased for private use and as per their manual, well capable of use at my residence. In May this year, 2023, whilst using the machine, it slowed down and promptly switched off. I could not get it started again however much I tried and eventually decide to take it back in to the store to get it checked. It was taken in on reference no. *** I was informed that the machine would have to be sent in, to the manufacturer whom would inspect it and let me know. A few weeks later I recieved a call from a lady customer service agent at game who informed me that Ryobi had inspected the machine and I would have to pay over a thousand Rand to have the machine repaired as they had found that the machine had run with less oil. Upon requesting a report, and how the had come to this conclusion, I was told that they had found evidence of scorching and thereby come to this conclusion. I informed the Manager at Gamestores Pavilion in Durban that I was not accepting this report as I found it to be without merit reason being that I had used the machine according to their specifications and carried their manual around with me to correctly maintain the machine. The machine is supp**** with a set of tools and a measuring bottle for the correct amount of fuel and 2 stroke oil to be measured and used. The machine has no indicator for overheating and therefore is reliant on the correct amount of oil used in the machine. I am in the motor trade and am competent in using the correct lubricants and mixtures for safe engine running and therefore totally reject their claim that the engine ran with less oil when their own measuring device was used. My complaint was heard by the manager to which I got a response of a reduced quotation from Ryobi of just under R1000. I informed the manager at Game that I was not accepting this and that he should check into this and get back to me. I had maintained the machine as instructed, by occasionally cleaning the air filter and generally keeping the machine clean for better running and useage. Trying to contact Game head office customer service has proved fruitless and I have therefore now resorted to placing my complaints and dissatisfaction on this forum. My machine is currently sitting at the store with no resolution in sight as Game and Ryobi are content to wave me off as an ******** consumer who should accept thier findings unquestioned and pay up. Imagine all the other customers with similar issues , with their supp**** measuring bottle being told that they should cough up to get their machines back in working condition. Another thing I have noticed is that the machine supp**** on thier SPECIAL is somewhat different to the same machine selling at the regular price. Having also researched the machine the differences are evident and makes one wonder if you're being ****MED AGAIN BY THE BIG BOYS, RYOBI AND GAMESTORES. I am not letting this go and will be back to keep us consumers informed of this outcome.
