R7000 delivery/surcharge for same city delivery

I tried to order 10 small plastic kiddies tables + 40 chairs from game for a small community creche. Along with a few other smaller items. The total bill was around R9000. The delivery was free but there was a R7000 surcharge for the size of the tables. It would've cost me probably about R300 - R400 to hire a bakkie to deliver the items myelf. I was shocked.

It took Game about 5 weeks to come back to me on my query (after which time I had already purchased the items from Makro with no problems around delivery). The answer was that due to the measurements of the tables ****erally small plastic four seaters for toddlers), they couldn't reduce the surcharge.

I was completely shocked and blown away - lost a R10k sale (and possibly MUCH. more) because of a system flaw. Archaic business practices if you ask me.
