PS5 Pre-Order fiasco

I ordered a PS5 during November and I expected there to be delays as this was a pre-order, supposedly shipping from 16 December onwards. On 18 December (after due date) a received an email stating that there was a delay from their supplier. On 23 December their email notified me that "Order is ON ITS WAY to you". On 24 December email (copy and paste of the of 18 December email) stated "We are still awaiting the delivery from our supplier". How does anyone ship something that was never in stock? It is now more than 1 month since I ordered and paid for the product with no indication as to when I will receive it. Never, ever again.
