Poor identification/ validation

<p>This is something I really hate to do but think that it needs to be brought up as I have been a customer for quite some time. </p> <p> </p> <p><br />I went to Game builders today to make a purchase on a few items when my card wouldnt go through (magnetic strip a bit *****) so the cashier advises me that I need to get a new card and referred me to the help desk.</p> <p> </p> <p><br />Lady at the helpdesk was very friendly and called the head office. The lady from head office was willing to give me a new card because the card I have was replaced about three months ago. Great !!! thats where it should've ended i would have thought.</p> <p> </p> <p><br />Now we all know that we need some form of identification to make a purchase at game and the only form of identification I had with me at the time was my driver's licence. I then proceeded to hand over my drivers licence but it expired last week but I have been to the traffic department to renew it the day before it expired. To my surprise according to the lady at head office, they couldnt help me because my licence had expired.</p> <p>I offered my firearm licence and my medical aid card and the invoice/ receipt from the traffic department too as I thought that they may be some positive form of identification but no, the lady at head office said they did not accept it.</p> <p> </p> <p><br />I asked why not as in my mind they needed to see my ID number and mug shot for the least which can be compared to my original application or records on heir database. The lady said that there is no way that she will be able to assist me because my drivers licence was not valid.</p> <p> </p> <p><br />I then asked if their database was connected to the Natus system (which could be possible) which would bar me but then I realized that I still get 21 days from the traffic department. Now if the traffic department can give me grace why oh why can Game not? </p> <p> </p> <p><br />I would really like to know how Game stores identifies their customers using dates and not ID numbers as this happened to me now. I opened my game account with my very first ID book issued way back in high school and they dont question when it is going to expire like or anything like. And for the record my firearm licence epires in 4 years............... whats the difference her please tell me?????</p> <p>I am in the office automation industry and if the date of issue and the expiry date is all they look at, then I got news for you, you are exposing yourselves to ********** activities. </p> <p> </p> <p><br />Nevertheless I was highly irrate and told the lady on the other end about the inconvenience caused and what bad service I have been dealt and how bad their system was before ending the call.</p> <p> </p> <p><br />I must say that on the contrary, the staff in store were very friendly and more than willing to help. </p> <p> </p> <p><br />Game fix your Identification system and or mandate!</p>
