Payslip and contract dilemma
I went to Game store at The Glen Mall on the 12th of July with the intent to get a contract phone that was on promotion. I was told by consultant there that I need a payslip, three months bank statement, proof of address and ID to apply and I told the consultant I do not get a payslip nor do I have a letter of employment as they requested as well but advised that my bank statement reflects my monthly income which I believe should be sufficient. I requested to speak to the manager and relayed my request of which he said he will get someone to assist me...the lady the came to assist me gave me a form to fill out and proceeded to enter the information on their system. She told me the device I wanted was out of stock and told me which one they had and I went with what was available, during the application she later says that my credit score was low and my contract cannot be approved...I was surprised of that but decided to leave the store at that moment. Realising that the lady could be lying I checked my credit score when I got home and all seemed to be in order, my credit score was fine. I decided to go back to Game store at Southgate Mall to try the process again but started at Telkom to see if I will have the same issue. Telkom store had no issue about the payslip and needed only six months banking statement and surprisingly my contract application with them got approved which further more made me question Game's rejection...if Telkom can approve me, why can't Game? so I went to Game and requested the manager there. while I was there the service was terrible from the beginning as the consultant failed to notify the manager properly that a customer was requesting them. I stood there for a long while in which I reminded the consultant that I need to see the manager, the manager took her precious time to get to me and I told her about my request to get a contract device...repeated the issue about the payslip and letter of employment and she said they cannot assist me without either of those documents. She did not interact with me in a professional manner as she spoke to me while walking away up to a point where I ask if she will assist me or not and she giggled and waked away into their back stores and did not come out. The lady consultant there came to me and said that they cannot assist me without a payslip and in turn I ask if Game cannot assist me or Vodacom? as it is it is part of their contract promotion and she responded by saying "both", I said thank you and left. I was angered by the whole situation and I started questioning the fact that if one does not have a payslip, do they not qualify to get assistance?...in the case of someone who is self employed what do the do because they obviously cannot produce a payslip. I still want the devices on promotion but I am not being assisted by anyone, I don't know what to do now and stock is limited and I fear I may not get the devices I want before the promotion ends.
