NON REPAIR OF LOGIK RADIO - OUT OF WARRANTY

I purchased a Logik portable radio for my daughter in December 2015. The play button on the radio stopped working and I took the unit to the Eastgate store in December 2017. The staff at customer services refused to take the unit in for repair since it was over the festive period and their repairs department was closed until 8 January 2018. I spoke to the store manager who offered to give me a 25% discount off the price of a new unit. I declined, saying the unit had cost me R 500 2 years ago and it made no sense for me to pay R 450 to replace unit when I did not know the repair cost. I then emailed Game head office in January for assistance and received a call from the store manager to ask how they could assist. I asked that the unit be booked in for assessment and quotation and the manager, Steven, asked that I bring the unit to the Eastgate store which I did on Sunday 28 January. When I brought the unit in the lady at customer services refused to book the unit in and told me that I should take the unit back to the supplier for repair. I refused and explained the phone call with Steven. The assistant store manager/supervisor - Christine - then came over and told me that I must be mistaken as Game stores do not accept out of warranty repairs for Logik products as they are deemed irreparable,so she did not know why Steven would have told me this. When I pointed out the sign on the wall which stated that Game still services out of warranty products which they sell and repair at a minimal cost, she said something to the lady at customer services and then walked away. The lady at customer services then booked the unit in for repair.

I find this unacceptable - a product less than 2 years old is deemed irreparable after 1 year ? How many thousands of Logik items are sold by Game stores each month? I wonder if those clients are aware that once the warranty expires Game stores no longer accept any responsibility for the repair of these items and their clients are then expected to take their faulty items directly to the supplier? Shocking, appalling lack of customer service.

I contacted their head office to ask for assistance but I have been referred back to the branch, even after explaining that I expected head office to assist me further.
