No guarantee on goods

I bought a three piece of stove from them a month and a half ago, it is a glass stove. The hob since its a glass cracked when the pot was boiling and spilled water on it , I returned the the hob to the store and they refused to take it claiming that the sales person told me that there is no guarantee on it and they did not explain it to me, there are no warranty papers that I have been given the sales person just said to me I must keep the slip for guarantee. I am now sitting with a hob that is not working and they only said I must take it back with me and bring it back on mid January 2018 to check if there is a chance that their workshop will fix it and I will be liable for all the costs.
