Game Price Match within management discretion
Today I needed to purchase a new fridge. I scanned the local adverti*****t and found a side by side door fridge at Pick n Pay Hypermarket code Defy 437. When I reached Pick n Pay Hypermarket they only had Defy 436 in stock at same price of R8999. The only issue was that the model they had in stock did not have a water dispenser. The lady assured me that they can ship one for me - just not the same day. In my mind this in fact relates to having stock. The only problem was that I needed it today as I had items that I urgently needed get into a fridge. This was at Pick n Pay Southern Centre Bloemfontein . I then proceeded to Fluerdal Bloemfontein Game where I also have an account and have been a loyal client for years. They had the exact fridge for R10999. I explained my situation to Ntabiseng who was very friendly. I asked her if price match is applicable and she said yes, but had to get approval from her manager. After waiting for about 15 minutes the manager informed Ntabiseng that this is not applicable because Pick and Pay does not have in stock. The Manager S Ackermann did not even bother to talk to me and just walked off. I had to go searching for her to try and discuss the matter. Not really giving me a chance to discuss the matter she just refused to consider the price match as per the Game promise. I then told Me Ackermann that I will have no choice than to go to the media. Her words - "please do that". I then returned to Pick and Pay and purchased the model Defy436 model
I must say that I am very disappointed with the approach of the Manager at Game. I am sure that if I phoned any surrounding Pick and Pay they would have had this model on their floor. In my mind I cannot discard collusion between retailers in Bloemfontein to ensure that stock is not immediately available to prevent others from honouring their price match promises......
