Game Delivery fiasco
I bought a new TV at Game online on 25 April 2026. I was informed on 28 April that my order was dispatched and would be delivered by WumDrop on the same day. I tracked the order (although the icons never moved) and we eventually contacted the driver, who said he was about to leave town and come to our address. He didn't arrive, but at 17h45 we received a message on the tracking system to say that an exception had occurred and that the order was being returned to depot. As we had been waiting for someone to arrive all day, I tried to contact their agents on the chat service. I was told it was after business hours and nobody was available to help. Today we tried to contact the driver again, and he requested the delivery address and advised that he still had 3 or 4 other parcels to deliver and would then come to us. That was the last we heard from that person. While this was ongoing, I again tried to contact an agent on the chat, only to have my conversation ended twice without resolution. I then called the Customer Care Centre and spoke to an agent there. She promised to sort this out and come back to me. At the time of writing this (13h39 on 29 April) I have still not heard from her, but I did get a call - allegedly from a driver at the Game Depot - to ask if I would be home today for a delivery. I confirmed this, but the driver refused to give me an approximate time for when to expect him. A fourth try with the chat finally connected me with an agent for longer than a minute, and I explained the whole situation to him. He told me that they were informed by the driver that there was nobody at the address at 17h45 to receive delivery. I advised him that three people were home all day and kept an eye open for the delivery, but saw nobody and received no calls on 28 April to say a delivery had arrived. I was then told that the phone I had ordered had been returned to the warehouse. I advised the agent that I had not ordered a phone and he told me that they could not see what was in the package. It was only classified as big or small. When I told him it was a TV, the package in question suddenly became a "big" parcel, which had been returned to the warehouse. Funnily, when I checked the tracking data online, it definitely said it was a "small" parcel! I was then told that I would have to contact customer service to set a new delivery date. When I told him that I had already spoken to customer service (who were trying to sort this out) and that a new driver had allegedly called me from the warehouse, the agent reiterated that he had no scheduled delivery on his system and I would have to call Customer Service again. This is probably the worst attempt at delivery and customer service I have ever experienced from any retailer in South Africa. WumDrop should be dropped by Game as their courier service, and Game and, by implication, Walmart South Africa should be ashamed of themselves. I will definitely think twice before ever ordering online from any Walmart subsidiary again.
