Game beats any price, unless the price is too good...

I recently received excellent service when purchasing a bicycle from Game last week Tuesday. So this weekend was time to upgrade my Xbox. I went in to Game after seeing a special at a national retailer as Game offers a We Beat Any Price deal. I checked all the requirements for this and made sure that all was in order before I went to Game.

I need to point out the following: 1. This was not a one day special (till month end) 2. This was not an opening special 3. This was not an online only special

All of this I confirmed with the retailer's head office and two of their stores ( I like to make sure of my facts) prior to going to Game.

I spoke to a really helpful consultant who called the nearest branch of the competitor with the special. He advised all was in order and then went off to discuss the price beat with the manager. He then returns saying that it is a store opening special and they cannot beat the price. After explaining in detail to him that I had confirmed with their head office and 2 other stores that this was not an opening special he still refused to budge and only said the manager refuses to match the deal because it is an opening special. Now I know that the closest competitor store has only recently opened so it may seem like an opening special, but it is not.

Well done Game, not living up to your promises.

I a extremely unhappy around the whole situation especially as I had just had such wonderful service from the same branch just a few days prior.

After realising that the poor sales assistant was just carrying over the message from the manager I left, drove straight to the other store and made the purchase.
