Faulty Skyworth TV – Unacceptable Turnaround and No Replacement Offered

I purchased a Skyworth TV from Game at Cape Gate on 2 June 2024. On 12 May 2025—less than a year later—the TV stopped working. While the power button lights up (indicating the unit receives power), the screen remains completely blank when trying to turn it on.

I returned the TV to the store along with the original receipt, and it was booked in for assessment. I was then informed that this process will take 21 working days, which is entirely unacceptable for a product that is still under warranty and clearly faulty within the warranty period.

I did not purchase a brand new TV just to have it repaired within a year. The expectation, as with any electronic item like a phone or laptop, is that if the product is defective in such a short time, it should be replaced, not repaired.

I am extremely disappointed with the lack of urgency and the absence of customer consideration in how this matter is being handled. Due to this experience, I will no longer support Game and cannot recommend them to anyone else. I expect a resolution that aligns with the Consumer Protection Act—a full replacement, not a repaired unit.

Hi Robyn, thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry that your TV is not functionoing as it should and for the inconvenience this has caused. Regrettably, any electronic item that is is deemed faulty will need to be assessed by the supplier to determine what the issue is. Only if it're not repairable will the supplier either exchange or refund it. The terms of the manufacturer's warranty can be found in the manual.
