False advertising

Extremely disappointed with the service I received at Game, Lakeside Mall, Benoni today. I went there because I had seen a fridge on promotion online. I got to the store and explained that I wanted to purchase the fridge on lay-by and complete the purchase in January. The lady who assisted me told me it was possible, but only if I had my ID or a copy of my ID (which I didn’t have on me at the time. I then went to the nearest printing shop to get a print out and return to finalise the purchase. They took my details and a copy of my ID. 30 minutes later, after the longest wait, I was told that it wasn’t possible to get it at R7999 and that I could only get it at the original price of R12999. I left the store feeling defeated and immediately forgot my rights as a customer. The sign on the fridge clearly stated that it was R7999 and they told me I could only get it at the R12999 price. I don’t know why I’m surprised because this is not the first bad encounter I’ve had with the very same store and branch. You cannot advertise an item and expect a customer to pay a different amount! After the lady told me the news, she seemed very unbothered and continued with whatever she was doing. No sympathy whatsoever after making me wait for so long with a very busy toddler.

It’s a pity I didn’t take anyone’s name, but they have my details and a copy of my ID.
