Game Grand Central in Cape Town
This past weekend my husband and I went to purchase a car seat which had seen the previous week marked at R899. The car seat in question is called "Phantom" by Chelino. I was thorough and checked all prices on the shelf to ensure there were no other prices saying "Chelino Phantom". The price on display was placed in the middle, just below the two Chelino seats on the shelf clearly indicating that the Chelino Phantom was priced at R899. We selected the colour we liked and proceeded to pay. When we arrived at the till the price did not match what was advertised on the shelf. We waited for the prices to be checked by a floor staff member who came back to tell us that the barcode on the seat we selected did not match the barcode of the price advertised. I then asked to speak with the manager as this price had been marked this way for over a week. The manager, Yvonne Johnson, then came to tell me the same thing: "The barcodes are not the same". I explained to Ms Johnson that there was only one price on display for the Chelino seats (which the floor staff member had now taken off from the shelf) and that this price was on display for over a week. Ms Johnson continued to insist that the barcodes don't match.
Am I misunderstanding that the prices listed on the shelf is what the product should be sold for? Am I as a customer supposed to check every barcode and price on display to ensure that they match??
This is absolutely pathetic! False advertising!!!
