Electrolux vacuum cleaner
We purchased a vacuum cleaner from Game on 9 December 2015 and had to return it to Game on 7 January as it was not working, so we had use of it for less than a month. After not hearing anything to date (25 January 2016) , we went to the store to query the repairs as Game was adamant we needed to submit it for repairs (after having it for only 3 WEEKS! They did not want to replace their defective product. The company which they appointed to repair it , Electrolux has done absolutely nothing. They claim that we have to pay for a new belt. We were offered insurance for after the 12 month guarantee which is useless since we haven't had it for a month and it is broken! We use the machine 2X per week. How on earth can wear and tear happen after approx 8 times of use?! So we have paid for a vacuum cleaner that we have had hardly any use out of. My advice is think twice before you buy from Game. They are not interested in customer service. Needless to say, the next stop is the consumer council.
We acknowledge receipt of your complaint with reference ***1 and apologize for your inconvenience in this matter.
According to the CPA, all faulty products need to be sent to the manufacturer or their appointed service agent for an assessment before a refund or exchange can be given, even if only 3 weeks have passed since purchasing the item.
The agent appointed by Electrolux has advised that a belt needs to be replaced on the unit, and if you read through the warranty of the item, it does state that belts are not covered by the warranty, as this is classed as ware and tare hence the reason why there is a charge to have the belt replaced.
In this matter Game Fourways will carry the charge of R210 to have the belt replaced for you, however going forward please note that there are certain exclusions to the warranty like belts, and if they need to be replaced in the future this would have to be at your cost.
