Don't get blinds from Game!

In February 2025 a consultant from the Decorland blinds section at Game came to take the custom measurements for a quote for 17 blinds. They installed on 10 March and almost all of the 17 blinds were damaged seemingly by how they were packaged in the box. Their office told me that they would fix this. After having to follow up, they came to fix the issue on 15 April (over a month). The blinds do not close properly and are seemingly getting worse where there are huge gaps at the bottom of many of the blinds while the top closes tight. If flipped the other way, the bottom is tight and the top has huge gaps that I can put my hands through. They sent me a quote for "another product" that they have for which I would have to pay an additional R16 000. A blind is a fairly simple thing in that the slats should open to allow light and see through the window, and close to not allow light or to see through the window. Theirs does not work and they are passing the costs on to me. It is now mid-June and I am still not satisfied. Based on the shocking reviews of Decorland on Hello Peter, I am surprised that they are still in business and regret having not read these reviews beforehand.

Hi Mark, thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about the issues you've encountered with your custom blinds order, from the initial installation in March to the ongoing functionality problems that remain unresolved. It is completely understandable that you expected a high-quality product and service, especially after placing an order of this scale. Blinds, as you rightly noted, should perform a simple but essential function, and it is unacceptable that yours have not done so from the outset. Rest assured; the matter will be addreessed with the management team and you will be reverted to.

Reviewer Update
To follow up on this, Game contacted me and were helpful. However, the Decorland blinds company contacted me and said that they would order new blinds to be received on 27 June and do a "quality check" before coming to replace the blinds that I have. On 3 September I was contacted about the blinds having arrived and installation to take place 9 September. 9 September they came to install the new blinds. While the installers were taking down the old blinds and trimming the new blinds to size, they asked me what they are fixing. So I told them that the problem was that the gaps between the slates are unevently pitched so when you close the blinds the gaps are still 1cm plus between the slats and a lot of light still shines through or you can still see through the blinds from outside. They asked me to check the blinds that they had just installed. THE NEW BLINDS HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. NOTHING HAD BEEN CORRECTED WHATSOEVER. So they stopped the installation and told me that they would tell the office about it and get them to contact me. It is now 6 January 2026. To date, I have had perfectly zero communication from Decorland since 9 September and nothing has been fixed at all. Perhaps they figure that if they keep quiet the problems will magically disappear?

Hi Mark, I'm sorry that your blinds were still not fixed last year, and that you haven't heard back from them since. Your query has been escalated to the management team at the Tygervalley store and will be contacted.
