DO NOY BUY LAPTOPS FROM GAME STORES

I went to Game in Brooklyn on the 23 of February to get my laptop which I bought last year August checked out becouse it was slow which gave me a hard time using it. When I got there I was sent to Game in Menlyn because they said there’s a technician there who can help. Same day I immediately went there and when I got the I found Ausi Rhoda who told me that the supposed technician by the name of Koketso is not available but I can leave my laptop behind and write down what the problem is she’ll give it to her when she comes. She told me that I will receive a call from Koketso before she works on it of which I didn’t. On the 2nd Of March I went to collect it and upon collection I was told that it was fixed I even received a note written by Koketso stating that she indeed saw and fixed it. Within a few days of using it I realised that it was giving me the same issues of it being slow of which I returned it back on the 11th of March. There I found Rhoda who gave me a few documents to sign to book the laptop in for repairs, immediately after I got a confirmation sms stating that it was indeed booked in. When taking it in she told me to leave with the charger as they have a history of being lost. On the 31 of March I got a text message along with a phone call from game stating that my laptop is back from repairs I should come collect it. I went on the 4th of April to collect it and upon arrival I was told that my laptop was fixed and was given a few documents to sign along with a printed page from the supplier as proof of it being seen and fixed. Before collecting I asked the lady who was helping me with the collection process (her name can be checked on the documents given to us to sign) if I can return my laptop again for a refund if I find out that it’s still giving me the same issues and she told me that if it’s the same issue I initially took it in for then yes I can get a refund. After a week of having it I started using it and realised that again it’s still slow that’s when I decided to go back with my sister on the 23 of April to get a refund as told before by the lady who helped me when collecting it. Upon arrival we didn’t get help until my sister and another customer who was there before us went and asked the other employees if they could help. A lady by the name of Sewela came to assist and when we informed her about the laptop issues she immediately told us that they cannot give us a refund as it is supposed to be booked three times first before they could consider a refund. We requested to speak to the manager as this was new information to us and that’s when Andrew came to assist. He also told us the same thing and denied giving us a refund without talking to the supplier and the store manager. After going back and forth we agreed that they will call the supplier on Monday morning to inform them of the situation along with a way forward as we stated that we didn’t want the laptop back. We agreed that they would call my sister instead of me. On the 25th my sister received a call from Koketso(technician) telling my sister that Andrew explained the situation to her and that she’s not the one that promised me a refund as she doesn’t have the authority to do so but she said she’ll talk to Andrew and come back to us. Koketso called my sister again saying that she spoke to her boss who told her to install a certain software that will boost the laptop speed after doing so she called and told us to come collect it. This is after my sister was told that the laptop did not get fixed while it was booked they just returned it after 21 days. On the 29th of April I decided to call Andrew through the customer service line. He told me that the store manager said that the laptop needs to get booked for repairs for 21 days if not I should come collect it. I asked him why he was ignoring my sisters phone calls of which he didn’t give me an answer. I also asked him why they want us to book it in for repairs if they said Koketso fixed it he changed his statement completely and said that yes Koketso is a technician and she finally managed to fix it I should come and collect it. At this point I am frustrated and this has began to affect my school work as I cannot submit my assignments on time due to the faulty laptop. All I want is my money back so that I can buy another laptop. I cannot buy a laptop from game, because I currently do not trust them. Surely they are infringing on my consumer rights, they keep taking the laptop but nothing has changed.
