Distasteful and ********* service
I’m reposting this due to the fact that, it still bothers me and none is done to rectify it. I bought a laptop at Game stores in Somerset Mall in May 2018; the gentlemen that was assisting me sold me a display model. Never did he mention the risks attached to buying a display model, the duration of it being on display even though I noticed when I got home that the sticker underneath the laptop were already fading which could mean it has been there for a long while. Apparently I deserved a discount for it, of which I wasn't given. On the 13 month the laptop's battery wouldnt recharge hence wouldn't switch on. I then decided to take it in for repairs, as according to the booklet I received with the laptop, I had a 36months warrantee attached to the laptop. Upon booking it in for repairs I was told it would be ready in less than 15working days. Days went by and only on the 18th working day I received a notification to collect it at the store I had the book in done. I went to collect it when I got a shock of my life that it wasn't fixed and it will not be fixed unless I agree to pay R3600 which is almost the same as the initial purchase price to have it fixed. The assistant said the reason I was expected to pay that much it was because the motherboard had given in and as per my warranty, the motherboard isn't included. I then asked to see a supervisor or manager, explained my discomfort and she said she will take it upon herself to have it sorted. After a work of silence I decided to visit the store and had to wait for longer than an hour because she wasn't in the store and no one knew or had feedback about my case. I returned the following day and I was now assigned to a lady who made a call to repairs department about my laptop and gave me feedback that the store "doesn't give warrantee exceeding 12months on laptops" and that I forfeited my Asus manufacturer's warrantee because by regulation for it to come to effect I needed to have signed up on their website my serial number withing the first 3months of my purchase. None of that was communicated to me and when I told her that her response was I should take it up with the manager of the store that sold me the laptop. I confirmed if there's really no way I can be assisted she profusely said nope.
