customer service sucks
I am a very furious customer, infact furious doesn't even begin to describe how I feel right now. Let me take you to how we got here.
Month end of May, on the 29th to be precise I bought a heater in one of your stores, at MoA. I took it home unpacked and assembled the thing. One day I decided to switch it on because it was chilly and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get the spark from the ignition. I used my own lighter and I got the flame, it worked and the same thing happened the other day. Then one day I got the spark from the ignition but it didn't keep the flame, then the other day it kept the flame burning then the other day whilst it was on, it just decided to stop burning altogether. This time i only got a spark but to get a flame I had to keep the ignition down, the minute I let it go, the flame would die. I decided to take it back to the store, this happened yesterday.
When I got there I was told it'll have to be booked in for assessment etc etc, I didn't agree to that due to the fact that I knew for sure that it is faulty, and the fact that it was going to take up to 10days, for me that was too much. the store manager after interrogating me gave me another heater, same brand (Logik) when I got home I remembered the interrogation I went through before it was given to me and decided ok, let me not open this heater at all, take my gas cylinder with to that store, and have them open it and test it there before I take it. The most reason why I didn't open it is I remembered how I struggled to assemble it the first time I got it and thought there is no way am going through the same thing again.
Today, I got there at about 17:45, the lady in customer services knows the story from yesterday, so I told her I brought it to be tested and assembled. She said no problem and called assistance. I stood there for more than 15min before someone else was called because Justice wasn't available and noone knew where he was.
Youngman came and the first thing he says to the lady in customer services is how is it not working in the box, he doesn't ask what the story with a heater in the box is, so the lady tells him what's happening and he takes the heater out and question 1 he poses to me is what happened? I respond, 2nd question, is your cylinder a brand new one or a refill? So I ask does it make a difference? He says I shouldn't answer a question with another question, I asked again if it's a refill or new does it make a difference, then he asks why did you come and buy the same model then, I told him this is a replacement of a faulty heater I bought here, I was really angry this time and mentioned how he thought I was bored and stupid to think I'd come to game 2days in a row, wasting my petrol and time in which he says let's leave it. He doesn't end there, he says to me let me give you a tip of life, at this point I was really annoyed and said don't give me tips on life, rather do what you have to do and leave my life out of it, he said something in vernac continued with what he was doing, turned to me a said it's working. I said thanks now, can you put it together, he said I won't do it, I said they can take their heater, refund me I'll go buy it next door, he pushed it there and said I'm not going to do it. another gentleman came to rescue and did it. It's working, I switched it on without any hassles thanks for assistance to those who helped.
Back to the story of a worker / employee who clearly have no idea of how important customer service is. After the whole ordeal I asked for a store manager, I was given one, I told him what happened, it was the same gentleman who assisted me with a heater yesterday. I don't think he understood how serious this issue is, he said he will talk to him, I feel that is not good enough.
1. That guy must apologize to me, I don't care if he looked at my tracksuit and flip flops I had on and thought he is better than me, fact is I'm a paying customer.
2. Do your staff normally give"life tips" to your customers? I didn't appreciate that, I never will.
3. Do they have a right to say "I won't do it" to customers?
4. Do they even know that without customers there is no work for them? With that being said, that idiot MUST apologize to me, and I can't promise that I won't tweet about this experience.
Lastly , when I went to get another heater there was about 4 open boxes of the same heater, meaning these heaters have a fault, and they're being returned. We're consumers are not all stupids, do not treat us like ones, we are not going to stay on traffic after work, leaving our kids at home, wasting petrol , energy and time just for attention at your stores, if we come there it means we have no other option, we need assistance not to be ridiculed and disrespected by your staff.
