Consumer Protection Act

I bought a Stramm 52cc Brush Cutter from Game Montana. The packaging indicates a 2-year guarantee. We experienced problems with the gearbox within the first 5 months, so I took it back for a replacement. They refused to exchange the item and said they would send it for repairs. I received it back after 1 week. Three months later, I experienced a problem with the engine. I had to sign a document that indicated that, should the nature of the broken part be misused or tampered with, a fee of R850.00 would be charged for repairs. Yet again, it was sent for repairs. After the workshop's investigation, they accused me of not using 2-stroke oil in the fuel. I spoke to the after-sales consultant from Game, explaining that I always use the recommended fuel/oil mixture as per the prescribed method. How can they accuse me of not using oil as needed? If that was the case, the item must have been broken in the first week after the date of purchase. When I returned the item to Game, there was fuel in the fuel tank; they must have seen that the fuel had been mixed due to the discoloration. I know this for a fact because I accidentally spilled some fuel on the floor inside the store. I received a call from Game on 19/09/2025, asking me to come and collect the broken item while the guarantee is still valid. The date of purchase was 03/01/2025. In my opinion, this is misconduct concerning the Consumer Protection Act. I will never buy anything from Game again, nor will I refer any friend, family, or business.
