BROKEN TV SET FROM GAME STORES,
I bought a 68 cm TV @ R6999.00 from Game Stores, Umtata Plaza on the 17/01/2025. They switched it on and packaged it back into the box. I was apparently the 4th person waiting to be given the item as there were three other ladies, one with a spouse, the other with a granny & the one with 2 kids waiting to be attended to. There was an issue with something I don't know which made it hard for us as customers to be attended to by the main guy who seemed to be responsible for bringing the items to us. By the time it was our turn I was already turned off & been offered a chair to sit down. My daughter was the one standing when it was turned on. We mounted the TV at home on the 25 Sunday evening. Upon connecting it, I noticed a thin lime line along the right side of its edge. Later on during my family's watching, one of them exclaimed that this TV is broken. he pointed out in that lime line I saw. They brought it back to the shop on Monday morning. Upon meeting the manager she said they do not discuss anything about TV breakages, TVs break during mounting and have nothing to do with that. Lots of TVs are in the store room as people bring them back & do not come back to collect them. Also said these TVs are common they need to be handled with extra care because when one presses the fingers when holding it, they show ink spill. They even offered them contact numbers of Hisense, which I never had a deal of buying a TV with them. My children told them that I am not around Mthatha & they ask to leave the TV in the store. It was said the store room is full, there is no space because of other TVs there. It was further said if the TV gets lost no one will account for that.
I lodged a complaint to Game stores complaints on the 29/01/2025, starting from the manager's customer care as it was said it was better with other workers to speak to than with the manager. Same day, a lady called me to make a follow up on my complaint. I made a follow on Saturday, 01, Tuesday 11 & Thursday 13/02/2025, as they promised to respond within 24hrs. They responded today 14/02/2025., saying they have nothing to do as the tv was tested in front of us in the shop. My concern now is that Game store has an issue with TV as it was said I am not the 1st person whose TV broke. Their store room is full of TV which breaks. meaning Game TV are not worthy to be bought. I am still going to follow up until justice is done. They never explained the handling with care to an extent that even touching the screen may damage the TV, wall mounting also is not recommended as the lady claimed that today to me. My R6999. is lying there at Game stores as I don't have a space too for it in my house. My heart is so sore knowingly that nothing will be done by Game on this issue. Should I knew that their TV sets break during mounting I should have not bought it, because I have 2 mounted TV sets at home bought from Game Stores which never had a problem. The new TV sets of Game Stores expensive as they are are not worthy to be bought no matter how attractive they may seem, their material is common to handle.
Best regards,
