Ransom for R28,000

After years of being Ford drivers and purchasing many fords for the company fleet we will never touch Ford with a barge pole. Engine light came on on my Ford Focus 1.0 took it to Ford William Nicol. Anneline Moorcroft called to say I need a new clutch but assured me it was under warranty. Called me 5 mins later to say it warranty was declined. R19,000 to fix. Told them to go ahead as you cannot buy generic parts. Called me to say the fly wheel has gone. Add R9,000. Then I got offered a pathetic 10% on the parts and a “don’t worry we not going to charge you extra on Labour”. The quote never said ANYTHING about subject to change / alternative repairs otherwise I would have definitely got another opinion and quote. Told Anneline to stop all work she told me they can’t stop as I gave permission to go ahead and they can’t release my vehicle until I’ve paid. Being held at Ransom for R28,000. Just plain not ok.

Now I ask you how does a clutch go at 68,000 km’s? Clutches on normal cars go for over 100,000kms.

Ford recalled clutches last year checked mine, said it’s fine then 10 months later it’s “wear and tear” or “bad driving”.

Just bad customer service with administrators sitting with a checklist.

Ford should at the very least meet me half way. With all the bad publicity of Fords and Ford recalls, fires etc Ford should try look after their last remaining customers. Especially given a fragile car market in SA.
