Not informed about defects before collecting the car

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding my new Mazda CX-5, registration number NB02KL GP, which I purchased from Fury Mazda Midrand and collected on 12 August 2026. Shortly after taking delivery of the vehicle, I drove it on the freeway and immediately noticed that it felt unstable. When applying the brakes, the vehicle moved sideways, creating a serious safety concern. I bought the car as a Demo, I was extremely surprised and concerned by this behaviour. Upon arriving home, I conducted my own inspection of the vehicle and discovered that one of the rims was damaged. In addition, the wheel assembly appears to be misaligned, with the wheel sitting noticeably inward and not straight as it should be. I immediately contacted Stella, the sales consultant who assisted me with the purchase. During our conversation, she informed me that the dealership was already aware of the issue. This raises a number of serious concerns for me. If the dealership was aware of the problem prior to delivery, I cannot understand why I was not informed before collecting the vehicle. Had I known about these defects, I would not have accepted delivery of the vehicle in its current condition. I have since been informed that replacement parts have been ordered and that the damaged rim will also be replaced. However, this further raises the question of how the dealership was able to order replacement parts if the vehicle had not already been inspected and the defects identified prior to delivery. Most importantly, I do not believe it is safe to continue driving this vehicle in its current condition. The instability experienced under braking presents a potential safety risk to myself, my passengers, and other road users. I therefore request the following: Immediate collection or return of the vehicle to Mazda Midrand for a full inspection and repair. A courtesy vehicle for my use while my vehicle is being repaired. Written confirmation of the nature of the defect, the repairs required, and the expected timeframe for completion. An explanation as to why the vehicle was delivered to me despite the dealership allegedly being aware of the issue. I have no indication of how long it will take for the replacement parts to arrive from Japan and cannot reasonably be expected to be without reliable transport for an indefinite period. As a customer who purchased a vehicle in good faith, I believe it is reasonable to expect a safe, roadworthy vehicle and appropriate support while this matter is being resolved. I trust Mazda South Africa will investigate this matter urgently and provide a satisfactory resolution. I look forward to your prompt response.
