Inefficient systems & *********** staff at Eduloan
On 10 Jan 2015 I did an online loan application with Eduloan
I was contacted a few days later by consultant who
o failed to check if the institution had a discount agreement with Eduloan
o Asked me to have my spouse sign the loan agreement but I indicated that I'm unmarried
o asked me twice to submit 3 months bank statements
On 21 Jan I received the SMS that my loan had been approved
I made the grave mistake in assuming that Eduloan had paid my study fees. I phoned the institution the day before starting my course to confirm my studies (16 days after loan approval). They received no confirmation of payment
I phoned Eduloan who said that I must go to an Eduloan branch to get a confirmation slip. I said that I was unable to get to a branch & asked if they could e-mail the confirmation
I was told by the call centre agent that I would have the confirmation e-mailed to me by the end of the day. When trying to follow up 3.5 hrs later I was told that the turnaround time to e-mail me a confirmation would be 24-48 hrs yet I would be starting my course the next day? I said that it was urgent that Eduloan provide the confirmation as I wouldn't receive my training kit. Agent refused to help.
