I thought I was the only one with a bad experience. Seems NOT!!!!
in December 2021 I decided to bite the bullet and invest in LiFePo4 batteries for my home solar system. I did a lot of homework on which brand of batteries to acquire and decided on Freedom Won's eTower range simply because I could not afford their HomeLiTe range and also so I can add more capacity as I can afford it. 10/11/2023 I logged a ticket after getting high voltage errors from one of the 2 batteries(ticket #18648)
After many hours wasted on emails and phone calls and online diagnostic sessions (which helped only for short periods) FW suggested I send the battery to their workshop in Centurion for repairs. Seeing that I live in Beaufort West I felt that I shouldn't carry the burden of shipping the battery to and from a supplier seeing that it was well under warranty. At the end the battery was dropped of at Herholdts, George, (10/02/2024) where the units were bought in the first place. The battery only reached FW on 22/02/2024. At this stage Herholdts offered me a loan battery. The loan battery was new and the firmware different from mine. This caused major SOC% issues and the batteries SOC % differed up to 28%. I didn't make too much of this seeing that the problem would be fixed when I received my old battery back. Then, after many more emails and apologies, on 27/03/2024 FW sent me an email stating that they will be replacing my battery because it had some "pporly performing cells". I then logged a ticket to get my old battery's firmware (V1.07) updated so it would match the new one (V5.07)that was on it's way, or so I thought. Again the technicians logged in remotely and upgraded my battery's firmware, but according to them, could only be upgraded to V1.10 because it had an older BMS in. The technician stated clearly that V1.10 and V5.07 was 100% compatible, yet the SOC% problem only got worse. I then decided to wait for my new battery to arrive and then worry about the problem further. On Friday 5/04/2024, after getting no indication of either Herholdts or FW to get my new battery to me I decided to get Courier guy to cellect the battery at my cost. The first collection attempt failed because FW were closed already at 14:19. Then on Monday 8/04/2024 the second colelction attempt failed because FW said courier guy had the incorrect ticket number. This was after I emailed FW support the waybill after booking it on 05/04/2024 and clearly stated that Courier guy would be collecting my replacement battery.
I am so sick and tired of their excuses and bullsh@t!! Even though these batteries and the fact that it's a local company seemed perfect at the time of purchase I would not recommend FW to anyone, especially their eTower range. After sales support are not worth the paper it's printed on. When and if the new battery arrives and the problems persist I will be seeking legal advice and starting the process of returning both batteries for a full refund. I know this would be a long shot but I will make sure to share my experience with Freedom Won on social media until I can get rid of these sh@t batteries!!
