SERVICE? At a cost............ Shame on you.

We experienced an unplanned electrical outage last night, due to cable theft. Having FIVE, 5 day old French Bulldog puppies, I became frantic after 4 hours due to having no power to keep the infrared lamp on, or hot water to keep the bottles warm. So I phoned Fourways Vet - due to them being the closest 24hr Hospital to me, as well as their apparent leading Vet's I thought it would be the best decision to make, as a puppy, in winter needs to be kept warm and fed to survive, and considering a Frenchie is a difficult breed, I want professional advice. I was put through to a Vet on duty, I explained the situation, and asked if I could bring the mother and her puppies in to the Vet in order for them to be kept warm, and for a feed to be administered, as the puppies arent latching yet - something I was also finding difficult to assist with in the dark now that I couldnt bottle feed them. The Vet who I was put through to, advised me of the following: As long as the puppies were with their mother indoors with a blanket they would be fine - he further added that considering they were Frenchies he was assuming they were lying on more than newspaper. When I insisted I wanted to bring the puppies down to be placed into an incubator to have them kept warm as they mother hadn't bonded with them yet. He told me this: Mam, do you know what the cost would be, is that something you want to pay to keep them alive, it would mean high care, not something everyone can afford.

I am absolutely appalled that a Vet thinks he knows what my financial situation is, on what I can afford when it comes to keeping a litter of puppies alive. That is my decision to make!

Shame on you Fourways Vet for your disgusting treatment of a client of yours! How do you treat the pets that are brought in to your care.
