Price increase unacceptable

I fail to understand how a small loaf of Fornos Low carb bread in December 2015 was R 59-99, January 2016 R 69-99 and last week March 2016 is now R 79-99. How does this bakery justify increasing their prices like this?

Hello Candicekap,

The protein low carb bread is made of predominantly nuts (Almond flour, Seeds, Eggs, Yoghurt, Macadamia nut) All these raw ingredients have increased drastically.

All nuts in South Africa have increased approx. 30-40%.
Seeds have increased approx. 40% and eggs between 10-15%.

This is due to rand devaluation and the current drought we are facing.
Please look the similar price in the market for the same bread, We are still one of the best value even at this price.

We do empathize and can assure you that we are all faced with the same challenges in our country at present. We do however have many other breads that are very reasonably priced. This is a very specialized bread, for specific dietary needs.
