Fossil resells damaged watches

My Fiance recently bought me a watch (Goodwin Chrono Leather Brown – FS5415) from Fossil for our Anniversary. The watch was purchased at the Fossil store at Rosebank Mall on the 30th of July 2018, and the store assistant/clerk was Mpho.

My Fiance identified the watch she wanted after browsing the display cabinet, and this was the exact watch that was given to her. My Fiance requested a "brand new" one, and not a display model and she was told that that was the last one and that Fossil usually doesn't keep excess stock in store (which we both found odd).

The watch was gifted to me on our Anniversary on the 27th of August 2018, I set the time and date and everything appeared to be fine. The next morning I wanted to wear the watch and I noticed that the day was stuck on the day before and that the time was incorrect.

My first thought was that it was a battery issue, so on the morning of the 29th of August, my Fiance and I took it back to the Rosebank store and asked Mpho to test the watch. After testing the watch she discovered that the battery was fine and that it could be an issue with the mechanism.

I demanded that the watch be returned and a brand new one requested. Mpho sourced a "new" model from the Woodlands store and was to be delivered to the Rosebank store on Friday the 31st August 2018. My Fiance collected the watch from the Rosebank store on Friday 31. On Saturday 01st September I wanted to wear the watch so I unboxed it, and noticed that the time and date was incorrect even though Mpho set the time and date the day before (already 1 red flag). I attempted setting the time, and time-pin popped right out the side of the watch (red flag no. 2)

I cannot begin to describe how upset I am with the quality of the product received from Fossil, this watch has cost my Fiance and I an insane amount of money and we have yet to see a single reward or benefit from this.

My conclusion is that Fossil is reselling damaged goods to customers.

Please contact me urgently on ********** or ********** to discuss further.

3 days later and still no response from the "Area Manager" Since my complaint : On the day of this complaint, Rudi from Keren/Fossil called me and offered me a refund since the watch was "no longer available". Finding this hard to believe I made numerous phone calls to various branches, namely Clearwater, Mall of Africa, Menlyn and Sandton. Sandton had a brand new watch available so I set out there on Tuesday 04th September to collect. After this, Rudi asked me to draft out an email and send to him so that he can forward to his Manager, as I was demanding some sort of compensation. Since the e-mail which was sent on the Morning of Tuesday 04th I have not heard from Rudi or his Manager. I finally have my watch (the 3rd one to be precise) after the countless phone calls and physical trips to and from the Fossil stores to sort a problem that should not have happened in the first place. Fossil, to date have done absolutely nothing for me.
