Billing Dispute

On recommendation from family, we contacted Forest Flooring to quote on wooden flooring installation in our kitchen and living area.

The initial quote was generated off plans we provided. After a series of site visits by Forest Flooring representatives they provided a final quote which we accepted.

Midway through installation we were advised that the measurements were incorrect and that we were required to pay an extra R30 000 approx 30% of the original quote. we objected but agreed on their recommendation to proceed on the basis that acceptable resolution would be reached. they apolgised and said the R30 000 was incorrect and then resubmitted a lower amount.

When we questioned the fairness of the bill we were advised that we needed to pay as they were not at fault and that we were - despite them taking the measurements off plan and on site.

As a goodwill gesture we offered to pay a little more than half the additional quote.

However when commuicating with the Forest Flooring executive we were told:

- if we dont pay the sales lady should pay

- that we were looking for a freebie.

Againts our better judgement and not wanting to make one employee in the company pay - we have offered to pay the full amount.

The experience is very unfortunate in that as a customer the Directors of the businuess have blamed us (despite stating in an email that the staff made mistakes) and advised that it is their business practice that if we do not pay their staff will. There have been no apologies or compromise.
