WARNING: FORD FIGO AND FIESTA TOTAL FAILURE
What I am going to tell you now is so unbelievable that if I did not experience it myself I would not have believed it. The Ford Figo 2020 and the Fiesta 3 cylinder onwards is the problem. The engines of these vehicles crank and cam belts are inside the engine and are made of a rubber type compound. The oil dissolves these belts and start breaking down from around 120km.The first 3 belts of the Figo’s snap in one month just over 120km at a cost of 27 to 38k with a total cost of 87k. Ford replaces one early due to internal noise. The Fiesta belt did not snap but the oil dissolved the belt which block the oil pick up and seize the cam and crank. Cost to repair 27k. The worst of all is that ford did not have the belts in stock which cause a delay of three weeks repair time. The mechanic at that point told us that there are 30 vehicles standing waiting for the spares. The monthly payment together with such repair cost can ruin a person that does not have back up funds. You would say that there could not be more. You bet there is a lot more. Then the alternators packed up one by one. Weak Pc boards the cause. The cost to replace is more than 10k. The auto electricians will repair for R1500 but do not want to give guarantee because they say the Pc board is inferior. Then last month the gearbox shift control which is plastic disintegrate. No not Teflon or a superior type of compound but real china plastic that consist of 4 pieces. Then again there is no stock at Ford. When it arrives you will be minus 4k. That’s not all. Due to the 3 cylinder engine excessive vibration when idling it damage the three engine mountings. To conclude: To compare our previous ford Fiesta’s 4 cylinders and still going strong Nissan MP 200 with a Renault engine which all over 400 000Km with 10% of the problems of the Ford’s. NB: If you have one of these Ford’s trade them asap before you must pay more at repair cost then what it is worth.
