WARNING. Ford defective cambelt.
I have a Ford Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost 2018 model with only 120 000km on the clock. Since last year I have had endless issues with the vehicle. Started with my engine light coming on in September and I booked it in at one of Fords dealerships. I was told I need to replace the oxygen sensor and catalytic converter. (At this point the car only had about 115 000km on the clock). Ford repaired my car. End of November I took my car back to Ford as it was loosing power. They then told me that my vacuum pump is worn and I need to replace it. Again we did the repair. A few weeks after getting my vehicle back the engine light came back on and I contacted Ford again. Booked vehicle in only to be told that they have found the problem and it's the cambelt. (Please note cambelt service is not due for a while) The dealership got Ford SA involved, inspector came out to investigate my vehicle only to reject any claims of defect cambelt And not willing to cover the repair as I am not a loyal Ford customer because I do not service my car at a Ford dealership and they don't know what kind of oil is being used when serviced. I service my car at a RMI approved and very well known service centre. I lodged a complaint with Ford SA which they have told me that due to the age of my vehicle and the out come of the inspection they can not assist me financially and I need to cover the costs to repair the cambelt and my turbo which is also now faulty due to the cambelt issue. Ford refuses to take any responsibility for defected parts. And doesn't care that Ford drivers have to pay thousands of rands to fix it and fix all issues caused by it.
