Shortened Service Plan
I bought a Ford Figo Sedan from CMH Ford on 24 January 2017. It is a 2016 demonstration model. The first date of registration is 2016-01-16. It is supposed to come with a two-year service plan and a four-year guarantee.
On 16 January 2018 I called a local Ford Service Agency to book the annual service as the dealer gave it a service just before I took delivery of it. I was informed that the service plan has expired in October 2017.
I enquired with the dealer and was informed that Ford has loaded the vehicle on their system as being in service from October 2015. They also corresponded with Ford and Ford does not want to budge. Well I bought the car from the dealer and not from Ford, but Ford is not innocent in this. If this car is in service since 2015 how can they then sell it as a 2016 model or is then already older than a second hand car that they sold me. What is interesting, is when I bought an extended service plan, they were only prepared to let it run until 2019, so they knew about the life of the included service plan. The dealer must then also have known or have had access to the same information.
I don't understand how a car that has been registered the first time on 16 January 2016 can have a two-year service plan that expires after 21 months of being in service. In my calendar a year still runs for 12 months.
All I can now say is, Ford and its dealers are good at pulling a fast on us the customers. So maybe I will not again buy a Ford and everyone else should think twice before buying a vehicle from Ford and its dealers.
I want my last free service and full period of the warranty or a refund on the price of the car as it is then not a 2016 model.
