Pathetic manufacturing

I am driving a 2015 Ford Kuga 2l TDCI and are having computer box problems. The car is at a registered mechanic and he discovered that the computer box is behind the front bumper on the passenger side in the wheel arch. My question is How Ford can allow their manufacturing department to put the computer box where it will be exposed to water , mud, dust , rocks and all other factors that can damage it. It is going to cost me R29 000 to purchase a new computer box and also the fee of the mechanic. I need answers from Ford SA
